A Morning with the Chef

Join us for a tour of culinary discoveries with Chef Cindy Liu of LooHoo’s Asian Comfort Food

This culinary excursion offers participants the unique opportunity to spend a morning with local chef, Cindy Liu. The tour begins with a guided stroll through the Ventura County Certified Farmers Market, where guests will meet farmers and purveyors, learn about what is currently in season, sample a few locally grown delicacies, and hear how Chef Liu works with some of the unusual items found in the market.

Next, the group will head to China Alley and learn about the rich history of the area, as well as enjoy a small tasting prepared by Chef Liu and inspired by history. The fun will continue at the other end of Main Street at SpiceTopia, where she will demonstrate how to prepare an Asian dish using the ingredients purchased at the market, as well as typical dishes eaten at her family’s New Year table. The morning will finish with a truffle making demo and sampling.

There will be plenty of time throughout the morning for Q&A with the chef and the proprietors. Guests are encouraged to bring a tote bag to carry any purchases made throughout the day.

• Price: Tickets are $49 per person.
  
  
• Refunds: Any cancellations made less than 48 hours before a scheduled tour are not eligible for a refund. Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance of a scheduled tour will be eligible for a full refund.
  
  
• When: NEXT TOUR DATE TO BE DETERMINED. Tour begins at 8:45am in Downtown Ventura and will run to approximately 11:45am. Once your registration is processed, you will receive a confirmation email with information about tour meeting location.
  
  
• Diets: This tour is not suited for vegans or lactose intolerant individuals, but we can accommodate vegetarians and gluten free diets. Tour menu includes eggs, chicken, pork, gluten, rice and sugar. There are no nuts on the menu, but dishes will be prepared in a kitchen that also processes nuts. If you have any food allergies, are a vegetarian, or are on a gluten free diet, please let us know when you purchase your tickets.
  
  
• Advance purchase required. Since there is limited space on this tour, we suggest all parties plan on booking in advance to ensure getting the desired reservation. In order to ensure a spot on the tour (and to give us adequate time for planning and food prep), no reservations will be taken after 12pm two days before the tour.

• Inclement weather plan. This is a rain or shine event. In the event of torrential downpours or strong winds, A raindate for this tour will be determined. If we have to postpone, you can choose to do the rescheduled tour or receive a full refund.
