Ventura is home to a burgeoning craft beer scene, making it a true haven for beer makers and beer drinkers alike. Recent years have brought a plethora of new craft brewers to the area, giving Venturans more opportunities to buy their beer directly from local breweries. Stop in for a pint, share a flight with a friend, or order a growler to go.

Poseidon Brewing Company - 5777 Olivas Park Drive, Unit Q. (805) 477-0239
Located in an office park off of Olivas Park Drive, this may be one of the smaller tasting rooms in Ventura, but what they lack in size they make up for in creativity and flavor. The grapefruit IPA is a true standout, as is the Spindrift IPA. The dive themed tasting room is relaxing, staff is friendly, and dogs, children and takeout food from local food trucks are all welcome.

Made West Brewing Company - 1744 Donlon Street. (805) 947-5002
Made West offers a large tasting room with plenty of seating and warehouse doors that open to let the southern California sunshine in 12 months out of the year.The beer is as good as the atmosphere is cool - with crisp beers given simple names like the MadeWest Classic, a pre-prohibition style cream ale, and the MadeWest Standard- their take on a refreshing pilsner.

Concrete Jungle Brewing (formerly Surf Brewery) - 4561 Market Street. (805) 650-4816
This brewery has a large Tasting Room with seating for 75 for tasting the fresh brew. Samplers and pints are available on site, with keg, bottle and growlers available for take-away. Be sure to check out their Strawberry milkshake beer if you’re looking to expand your beer drinking horizons.

Seaward Brewing - 1920 Goodyear Avenue, Suite #D.
The newest brewery to the Ventura beer scene, Seaward Brewing is located off Market Street, not too far from MadeWest and Concrete Jungle. Be sure to try their Imperial Milk Stout and their Double Hazy.

Ventura Coast Brewing - 76 South Oak Street. (805) 667-8640
Located in the heart of downtown, they offer an open, industrial-feel tasting room with plenty of seating and elbow room. They typically have eight beers on tap - including brews like the Ventucky pale ale, the Neighborhood IPA, alongside more out-of-the-box beers like a peach sour and a Thai Chile IPA.

Topa Topa Brewing Company - 104 East Thompson Boulevard. (805) 628-9255
With around a dozen beers on tap, Topa Topa’s downtown tasting room and sunny patio offer a casual place to explore their beers - like the Chief Peak IPA packed with hop flavor, or their Solitude Series where they showcase the flavor of a single hop variety. Another standout is their Howler IPA infused with locally roasted coffee.

Leashless Brewing - 585 East Thompson Boulevard. (805) 628-9474
This is the only certified organic brewery in Ventura, as well as the place to go for those seeking gluten reduced beers. They are rooted in the idea of being an environmentally-conscious and sustainably-minded company, and their beers truly celebrate raw ingredients. Be sure to taste their Noserider, a Belgian Golden Strong ale, their citrus-heavy Foamball Hazy IPA, or the super fun Silky Milkshake IPA.

Rincon Brewery - 4100 Telegraph Road. (805) 676-0020
Carpinteria based Rincon Brewery recently opened a second location in Ventura, near Foster’s Freeze and Ventura College. What sets them apart from many of the other breweries is the fact that they offer a full food menu, in addition to 20+ beers on tap. Indoor-outdoor dining, games and a sandbox for the kids all make this a great destination for a flight, a pint, or an evening of dinner and drinks with the family.

For fans of the Ventura institution, Anacapa Brewing Company (Ventura’s first brewery), its good to know they are still going strong, making their own beer on site and serving up great burgers, sandwiches, and salads to go alongside a small selection of local brews.
